The centerline splice parted, & on the muddy towpath, falling I sustained a shoulder injury. Unable to proceed down through the lock to rest up, my companion elicited help from Venetian, the two gentlemen noted agreed to help after their shift ended. I put a deposit down on my boat at the worst of times just before the Covid lockdown and was left waiting until it was lifted to complete the purchase.  

Following a full survey the manager Zoe kept me informed about all the remedial work they were doing to satisfy the surveyor's findings and boat safety requirements. The list was long but Venetian did rather more than was required to bring the boat up to a good standard at their expense.  

Engineer Dave who completed most of the work was at hand once I was onboard to explain everything they had done and patiently answer the many questions I had about the boat's systems.  

Sue and BJ who run the chandlery were very friendly, their prices reasonable and advice invaluable on everything you might need including very specialist advice about some boat upgrades I was interested in. Not for the benefit of their business but because they have been there and done that.  

Having had some bad and many lacklustre experiences elsewhere during my boat hunt, it was immediately apparent that Venetian care deeply about their reputation.  It's a great community and they will go the extra mile to meet your expectations.

My husband and I recently bought a narrowboat from Venetian Marine and can truthfully say that it was a most wonderful experience from start to finish.

My husband and I are not new to canals having commissioned the building of our last boat and cruised aboard her for 18 years before selling it in 1998. Therefore this was a return to canals for us and we had a clear idea of what we wanted of a boat and the criteria we needed our new boat to meet.

We had spent 2 years looking for such a boat, when Venetian sent us an email regarding a boat that they felt we may be interested in.  Within 24 hours we had visited Venetian Marine made an offer and bought it.

The Customer Service given by the staff of this company is second to none. From accepting our offer to having the survey done which resulted in our subsequent completion and ownership of the boat took about three weeks. The following week the engine and central heating units were serviced at our request in readiness for our long trip to the vessel’s new home mooring.

A special mention has to be made of Ian for whom nothing was too much trouble. Boats have moved on a lot since we had our last one and Ian was the epitome of patience and knowledge as he explained to my husband how several of the boat’s functions, particularly the electronics, worked.

The sales staff at Venetian exude skill and confidence in their knowledge of their brokerage services and obviously take time to learn about each vessel that they produce for sale. This is more than can be said about another large marina we had visited to view boats whose office of female sales staff, seemed to not know anything about boats or canals in general let alone have knowledge about the vessels they were responsible for selling.  We were glad not to buy a boat from this marina, nor would we have the confidence to sell a boat through them based on our experience.

The whole experience was a very pleasant one and everyone at Venetian marina, even those not directly related to our buying of our boat, did their bit to ensure that we came away with very happy memories.  If you buy a boat use the best, use Venetian Brokerage and forget the rest. We would not hesitate to recommend the services of Venetian Marine to anyone looking to purchase a boat.

As a novice buying my first narrow boat, I would give Venetian Marina a big thumbs up.   I saw my boat advertised on their website, and arranged a day to see it, I was advised by Venetian to ring the marina first in case the boat had been sold, which would have meant a wasted trip for me. I bought my boat, paid a deposit and the Boat safety check and survey went ahead.   Throughout the process I was kept up to date by the sales team at Venetian, and given a date of approx. six weeks away for completion of the sale, happily this date was around two weeks earlier than expected! on said date I paid the balance and collected my keys.   I am now moored at Venetian Marina, and part of a great liveaboard community,  lovely amenities and beautiful surroundings, my boat runs well and am happily living the dream!

Hi Zoe

As a complete novice but wanting the dream of living on a narrowboat, I spent a year researching marinas and boats throughout the UK.

Venetian Marina ticked all the boxes as they sell boats, have a full time engineer and offer residential moorings.  On arrival David in sales was polite and informative and very helpful.  I had a number of boats that I wanted to view from their website and was handed they keys to look at them myself.  Alec the engineer came aboard with the boat I liked and ran the engine and guided me through the boat explaining in more detail.  I stayed overnight locally and returned the next day to have a second look again.  David contacted the owner and we agreed a deposit subject to survey and was given a list of surveyors.  On my return to London I arranged the survey directly, which happened on his first availability.  Zoe dealt with the owner and results of survey and sale was finalised in a professional manner - keeping me updated throughout the whole process.  Within 6 weeks of viewing the boat I was moving up north to move aboard.

The sales staff were very helpful and kept me updated throughout the process.  2 moths later I am settled on boat and love the community spirit within the moorings.  I would highly recommend Venetian Marina and staff for their helpful, supportive guidance throughout the buying process and settling into my life aboard.

I'm absolutely loving the boat, I couldn't be happier.  Thank you again for all your help with everything.

I can’t thank all the staff at Venetian Marina enough for how easy and stress free they made the whole process.  Even for someone going into boating as a complete novice, I was given help and advice the whole way through and made sure I had everything I needed to confidently tackle the British waterways.  Everyone was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy a boat.

'Just a few lines to say how pleased we both were with the help and support we received from the sales team at Venetian Marina during the recent purchase of our first narrowboat, Simba. The whole process was handled both professionally and sympathetically and without any undue pressure. May 2012 - Narrow boat Lucille

'We recently purchased our first narrowboat for cruising around the
canals of England. After looking at many many marinas and even more
boats we came across a contender at Venetian Marina.

We took the trip there to see it and again another day. Ultimately we purchased the boat and
have now been cruising the waters for a month. Having never been on a narrow boat before we
had a sharp learning curve but within a day and a few locks we felt like old hands. – even when
we made mistakes. Overall it has been a wonderful experience and we are so glad we did it. The
memories and experience will last our lifetimes.

David at Venetian was at all times attentive to us and responsive to our needs and questions. He
didn’t hassle us whilst we thought about it and was at all times professional and courteous. He
organised the survey for us and minor repairs that were needed and made the whole transaction

stress-free. He spent time with us going through the operation and functions of the boat and all

documentation that we needed. We were very pleased with the whole procedure.

I would recommend David and Venetian Marina to anyone else who is looking for a narrowboat

and will be handing the boat back to him if and when we decide to sell it on. Thanks David for

October 2012 - Narrowboat Little Gem

Great Customer Testimonial from a Narrowboat Purchaser. Since starting our brokerage in April 2012 at Venetian Marina in Cheshire (expanding from  Whilton Marina in Northamptonshire) we have sold 35 Narrowboats and counting!
