Q. I’m thinking of selling my narrow boat what do I do?

Q. Your valuer has seen my boat and I’m happy with the valuation provided, what happens next?
You can either bring your narrow boat to us, our sister company Whilton Marina or we can arrange transportation of your boat to the marina (at a charge).

Q. Can I sell my boat from its original moorings?
Narrow boats lying at our marina tend to sell much more quickly than from their original moorings. We have a high footfall of customers looking to buy a boat; this is because they can travel to one location to look at lots of boats, rather than travelling to lots of different locations to see one boat.

Q. Do I have to have my boat insured when it is for sale at your marina?
Yes, you must make sure your boat is insured whist on sale at our marina, as it is still your property.

Q. Do I have to have a Canal and River Trust license on my boat whist it is for sale? No, you don't need to license your narrowboat whilst it is for sale at Whilton Marina.
But you will need a license whilst your narrowboat is for sale at Venetian Marina.

Q. I don’t want to sell everything in the boat can I leave it there until it is sold?
We ask you to take all your personal belongings from the craft that you wish to keep, so that everything left on the boat is included in the sale. It is best to leave the boat uncluttered because what is your choice isn’t always a potential purchasers choice, and they may well be put off purchasing the boat altogether.

Q. Can I use my boat whilst it is for sale at the marina?
No, whilst the boat is for sale at our marina we do not normally allow you to use it.
